Smiths High Performance has developed secondary case-hardened gear and bearing steels with one objective in mind - to reduce failures in gearboxes, camshafts and input shafts by utilising improved ultra-strength steel.
Our steel alloys utilise efficient M2C precipitate strengthening dispersion to provide our customers with a specially designed product which affords an ultra high strength core with excellent fracture toughness. Our gear steels also offer the same carburised surface properties as conventional gear steels such as AISI 9310 and EN36C. Our stock range also includes maraging steel alloys, which are another high strength steel product.
Significant advances in engine design have inevitably increased power; this has led to failures in dog rings, racks, input shafts, camshafts and gears. Developing higher specification materials, which also utilise the same beneficial qualities of standard commercial products, allows us to provide engine designers with an option to increase performance without compromising reliability.
By gaining a clear understanding of our customers' design drivers and pushing the boundaries of both chemical and mechanical properties, we supply steel alloy products that deliver enhanced overall performance. Give us a call on +44 (0)1767 604708 or click here to contact us.
