The project has been under a cloud for some time, but finally, there is some good news for the Bloodhound Project; a new investor has come forward, and the record attempt is back on. The project got into financial difficulties in 2018, resulting in unfortunate receivership; this put the plans for a British land speed record attempt firmly in doubt. Now the project is back.
Ian Warhurst, the managing director of Barnsley based engineering company, Melett, has come in at the 11th hour to save the project, much to the delight of the motorsport community. Ian has a passion for motorsport and also longstanding success in the automotive engineering sector.
At the time of the announcement, Ian stated:
"I have been overwhelmed by the level of interest and messages of goodwill following the news that I have bought Bloodhound. It is clear how much this unique British project means to people all around the world. My family and I have been supporters too for many years, and I am delighted to have been able to safeguard the business and assets."
It is fantastic news for British industry and enthusiasts alike, and Smiths High Performance will continue to support the project until history is made - the first car on earth to achieve a ground speed over 1,000 mph.
